Give your child a play-based jump start to learning at Farmington Early Childhood Center. FECC is a warm and welcoming early childhood community serving 400+ young learners with the resources of a full school building—highly qualified teachers, paraprofessionals in every classroom, special education services, social workers, speech pathologists, and an active PTA. We’re a comprehensive early childhood center to support all your child's needs.

Key Dates for FECC 2026–2027 Enrollment Process:
- December 1-12, 2025: Currently enrolled families complete MIECC online application for 4-year-old free GSRP/PreK For All.
- December 15, 2025: FECC website updated with 2026-2027 enrollment process for 3-year-old tuition and new family 4-year-old GSRP/PreK For All information.
- January 5, 2026: New 4-year-old GSRP/PreK For All MIECC online applications open for new families.
- January 12, 2026: Families can begin calling to schedule an appointment to bring in required documents for enrollment. School office 248-489-3808
- Appointments for returning families begin February 2, 2026
- Appointments for new families begin February 23, 2026
- February 2, 2026: Online 3-year-old tuition enrollment opens for currently enrolled FECC families and current FPS employees’ children via Digital Signup.
- February 5, 2026: 4:30 PM-6:00 PM Community Open House - NEW families, come walk through the halls of our school and see the classrooms, the science and media center, the gym, and the playground. Experience how our building is designed for young children to play, create, imagine, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Talk with our highly qualified staff and learn about our curriculum and different programs available.
- February 23, 2026: Online 3-year-old tuition enrollment opens to the public for new 3-year-old tuition families via Digital Signup.
4 Year Old GSRP/Free PreK

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s free PreK program for eligible four-year-olds. Ranked #1 in the U.S., it’s a safe place where children learn how to get along with others, share, take turns, and make friends. Math, reading, and thinking skills are taught every day through fun, hands-on activities. GSRP will help make sure your child is ready for kindergarten and beyond.
4 Year Old | 2026-2027 Enrollment
Enrollment is a two-phase process:
Phase 1 – Oakland County (Michigan Early Childhood Connect – MIECC)

Complete the MIECC Pre-Enrollment Application http://version4.miecc.org/CaregiverPortal/63 This is a centralized county process.

Select “Services for my child” to begin the online application

Select “Preschool”

Be sure to select Farmington Public Schools@Farmington Early Childhood Center as your choice of location.

A thank you for applying message will pop up after you hit the submit button. An Oakland Schools Care Coordinator will review your online application, reach out to you with questions if needed. Your finished application will then be referred back to FECC.
Phase 2 – Farmington Early Childhood Center (Site Enrollment)

After your referral is received, FECC will send a phase two welcome letter with site-specific instructions.

In this phase, families must complete FPS central enrollment (through MIStar) and schedule an enrollment appointment at FECC.

Beginning January 12, 2026, call 248-489-3808 to schedule a 20-minute appointment.

Once both phases are complete, your child is enrolled into a specific class.

Enrollment is a two-phase process:

- Pay the non-refundable $150 family registration fee.
- Select at least two session choices; placement is based on availability.
Phase 2 – Appointment in person at FECC
- Beginning January 12, 2026, call 248-489-3808 to schedule a 20-minute appointment.
- Bring the required documents listed below to your appointment
Once both phases are complete, your child is enrolled in a specific session or placed on a waitlist.

Payment Information
Tuition & Payment Options:
- One registration fee per family
- Multiple payment plans available (pay in full or in installments)
- Online payments accepted; auto-pay available

Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $150.00 paid during the pre-enrollment process.
- If you have multiple children, there is one registration fee per family.
- FPS employees do not pay a registration fee
Payment Options: Select from the following options during the online pre-enrollment:
- Pay in full due on the first day of July
- Four payments due on the first of: July - September - November - January
- Eight payments due on the first of: July - August - September - October - November - December - January - February
Methods of Payment: Payments may be made online via Visa, MasterCard or Discover. You may pay in person in the FECC office with cash, check, or credit card.
Auto-Pay: Please enroll in Auto-Pay to avoid late fees. Auto-Pay will charge your payments to your credit card automatically when they are due. You may enroll in auto-pay by making recurring payments in your account and checking the box next to each class once a credit card has been saved to your account. Auto-pay is attached to each session that you select once enrolled in the session. If you transfer sessions, then you will need to enroll for auto-pay with the new session.
Late fees: A late fee of $10.00 will be added to your account on the second day of the month if your payment is not made. An additional $10.00 fee will be added to your account for each week your payment is late.
Refund Policy: This is a full-year program. There are NO REFUNDS after November 1, 2026.
Class Cancellations: Classes may be subject to change or cancellation due to lack of enrollment. You will be notified if this occurs and given a full refund.

Early On is designed to provide support to children under age three and their families. Non-profit agencies in Oakland County have partnered together to do assessments and provide service coordination for eligible children and their families. If your child is under age three, please call the Early On referral line at 248.209.2084.
What is Child Find?
Child Find, a special education evaluation available through Farmington Public Schools, identifies resident children — ages birth through five years — who may be in need of special education services.
Child Find offers evaluations to children suspected of having a disability, at no charge. Following the evaluation, eligible children are referred to appropriate programs and services.
What is a Child Find Evaluation?
A team specializing in the areas of concern who work with the parents and child to determine eligibility for Special Education Services.
The Child Find Team and parents work together to determine the appropriate programs and services for eligible children.
The Child Find Team can include the following highly qualified specialists:
- Teacher Consultant
- Speech/Language Pathologist
- School Psychologist
- School Social Worker
- Occupational Therapist
- Physical Therapist
What programs and services are available?
A variety of programs and service options are available in Farmington Public Schools. Some of the possible programs that service special education preschoolers are:

Early Intervention involves home based services for children ages birth to three years of age. The goal of this educational program is to support and guide parents as the young child’s primary teachers. This program includes a team of early interventionists from a variety of backgrounds who work together to support the family and the child’s outcomes.
What is Early Childhood Special Education?
Early Childhood Special Education is an intense intervention program for children ages three to five who have been identified as having a disability. The class and/or services are led by a highly qualified Early Childhood Special Education Teacher with support services provided by an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Speech/Language Therapist as recommended by the IEP (Individualized Education Program). A strong home-school connection is required to enhance the child’s educational program.
What is Speech/Language Therapy?
Speech/Language services are provided to children ages three to five in a small educational group setting. Services are provided by highly qualified Speech/Language Pathologists. The therapists work closely with each child’s parents on developing appropriate home programs to enhance the child’s goals.
Developmental Guide
By 1 year: Pulls self to standing; may step with support. Gives toys on request. Pick things up with thumb and one finger. Stacks two blocks. Follow simple directions accompanied by gestures. Gives affection. May say two or three words.
By 2 Years: Kicks large ball. Turn pages (one at a time). Identifies six body parts. Imitates housework. Asks for items by name. Uses two or three words together, such as “more juice.”
By 3 Years: Walks up stairs. Stands momentarily on one foot. Uses utensils to feeds self. Copies a circle. Uses short sentences to relate experiences. Matches colors. Demonstrates interest in toilet training.
By 4 Years: Is toilet trained. Copies a plus sign +. Names six basic colors. Can wait for a turn. Begins to play with other children. Washes hands unassisted. Uses sentences.
